We’re supporting #RoadSafetyWeek. Are you?

In honour of Road Safety Week (17th – 23rd November) the WMS Group are urging everyone to get involved in improving road safety by pledging support to Brake.

Next week, the WMS Group and many of our dealerships will be joining thousands of other organisations, schools and community groups to promote life-saving messages as part of Road Safety Week, the UK’s largest road safety event.

Brake is the road safety charity behind Road Safety Week. Brake campaign to make streets and communities safer, prevent needless deaths and injuries on the roads and provide support to crash victims. Together with Brake, we are aiming to end the devastating consequences once and for all – but we need your help.

In 2013, five people were killed and 61 seriously injured every day on UK roads. Road Safety Week is an opportunity for everyone to spread the message to ‘look out for each other’ and work towards reducing that figure to zero.

How can you get  involved?

There are a number of ways you can support Brake, including:

  • Using this free online action pack which includes a range of fantastic fundraising ideas, press release templates, downloadable web banners and printable posters
  • Purchasing promotional items such as balloons, banners and t-shirts direct from the Brake shop. Please tweet us (@TheWMSGroup) a picture using the hashtag #RoadSafetyWeek, and the best photo will win a bottle of champagne!
  • Co-ordinating a Bright Day for Brake, or holding a charity car wash, bake sale or sponsored bike ride
  • Making a single or regular donation to Brake
  • Joining the thunderclap and promoting the #RoadSafetyWeek message through social media

Remember all fundraising and support will go a long way to improving road safety for all of us, so don’t forget to also share what you are doing with us either on Twitter or Facebook.

Please help us to reach our target of £10,000 by making  a one-off £3 donation by simply texting  BWMS10 £3 to 70070, ensuring you have the bill payer’s permission. Every penny will go towards ensuring that Brake can continue their essential work.

How does the money help?

£10 enables Brake to provide a free picture book to a child who has been bereaved in a road crash, explaining their loss. It will also allow Brake to issue support to the child’s carers.

£50 enables Brake to operate their helpline for one hour, providing vital support to people devastated by road death and injury.

£150 enables Brake to train 20 people to become campaigners for road safety in their community.

£450 helps Brake to coordinate a road safety campaign in a local community.

Thank you for your support.
